Function, Physical Therapy, and Pediatric Orofacial Pain: Transdisciplinary Diagnosis and Management
A 4-hour course taught by Dr. Claudia Restrepo Serna, offering a practical and updated perspective on the pediatric dentist's role in functional assessment, early diagnosis, and transdisciplinary approach to pediatric orofacial pain.
Pain in children often goes unnoticed or is expressed in atypical ways. A fundamental part of this course is to improve detection and diagnosis: you will learn to recognize early signs, altered functional patterns, and signs that can be mistaken for behavioral or developmental problems.
In this course, you will learn to:
- Identify functional and pain signs that are frequently underestimated.
- Understand the interaction between physical therapy, neurodevelopment, and orofacial function.
- Establish a more precise and timely diagnosis.
- Apply practical tools for initial pain management.
- Refer appropriately and work in coordination with physical therapy, orofacial therapy, and pediatrics.
